Using Your Curves

Most people want to draft their pattern to look exactly like the small pattern... We need to look at our specific body curves to create the patterns accordingly. If you are rounded or shaped, you would use more curved shapes; if you're straight you would use more straight lines. Here are some examples for you.

There are four common categories of shape. Most people are one of the following. Work out which one you are and use your curves accordingly. It may not look exactly like the pattern, but it will help you with your fitting.

For instance.. if we do trousers, skirts or dresses - you may need to change the shape on your side seams.

Princess lines - play around with your curves according to your shape. Also check the waist on princess seams; some need to come in.. and some need a larger waist.

Supplement #271

The most recent Supplement number 271 (Winter) is now available. In there, you will find the following interesting patterns:

  • I like the princess line vest over a plain white shirt - something that everybody needs in their wardrobe. Pencil skirts seem to be back.
  • Great coats and short fitted jacket. Casual coat that is a must for the winter... everyday easy to wear.
  • Some dresses can be converted to evening wear.
  • Fuller figure patterns galore - my favorite is the drapey skirt cut on the bias and empire tops and dresses. I know a few of you had a problem that the bodice don't reach over the bust area... I will try this one out but are sure this will be a great fit.
  • We also have a great shirt pattern for the men, another one that I'll have to try... it looks like a more fitted sleeve.

If you click on the following link on our website: http://www.dressmaking.co.nz/lutt_patterns.htm and then click on the "Model Preview" you can view the patterns in this supplement

The 40 patterns are available for US$20 plus shipment. You can also subscribe for a full year and receive 4 supplements of 40 patterns each for US$60 plus postage. To order please go to ORDER and follow the instructions.
