A Simple Twist on a Pencil skirt

Pattern Making Retreats

Supplement 282

Dear Sewers

It is currently snowing heavily here in the Central Plateau of New Zealand and Spring looks very far away!

Today we are having a close look at a "Simple twist on a pencil skirt", announcing our first ever Pattern Making retreat and you can also have a look at the latest supplement.

Happy sewing. Sonja

A Simple Twist on a Pencil Skirt

Use any pencil skirt pattern in your collection - I used #55(MMIV) or #185(MMIV) for FF.

  • Draw your pattern and remember to fit the paper pattern.
  • Check the length.
  • Mark all your markings - create master pattern.
  • Copy master pattern - use the copy to create new design.

  • Draw bask section on pattern, cut off bask and fold darts closed.
  • Add A-line sections to side seams and curve hemline.

  • Cut bottom sections of A-line skirt on fold of paper -
  • Cut 2 front patterns on fold of paper - to create 2 full front patterns.
  • Overlap fronts matching sides and front seams.
  • Cut excess of on sides of  patterns to create a left front and right front.
  • Shorten left front side for a different effect.
